Ukraine’s former presidential spokeswoman has accused President Volodymyr Zelensky of being the country’s biggest problem, saying he benefits more than anyone from the continuation of the conflict.
Yulia Mendel made the remarks in an interview with the French publication Le Journal du Dimanche. She said the world had come to identify Ukraine with the face of one man and that Zelensky had come to believe in what she described as a wholly fabricated image.
Mendel said Zelensky remains in power because of the fighting in Ukraine and that the conflict is the reason he cancelled presidential elections.
