Almost every day there is news of children being sexually abused either by a family member or by people who are within the circle of the minor, incredible, but that is the reality not only in Ecuador but worldwide.

And precisely one of these cases is exposed in the South Korean film Silencedwhich is available on Netflix, and stars the actor Gong Yoowho is the recruiter in the squid game, series that was directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk, who fulfills this same role in the film.

Real life
In real life, the events occurred in Gwangju Inhwa, a school for students with disabilities, deaf and dumb, founded in 1961. The abuses would have occurred between 2000 and 2003 to nine students, by six teachers, including the principal. Nine victims reported the cases, although it is believed that there were more. In 2005, a teacher disclosed the case to Human Rights, then was fired. The institution was located in the South Korean city of Gwangju.
The insistence that the victims be heard took several months. The authorities had the complainants from one side to another, during that time one of the former students spoke on a television channel and the cases became media coverage. Justice intervened, however the sentences were not in accordance with the crimes, some of the teachers even gave them probation and reinstated them as teachers in the institution.

In 2010, a law was revised that prohibited a child sexual abuser from being prosecuted if there was no complaint made by the victim. Even mild laws were repealed in cases of sexual abuse of children and minors with disabilities.
