After 40 years, we have been able to enjoy the reunion between Drew Barrymore and Dee Wallace, mother and daughter in ‘ET the extraterrestrial’. This film directed by Steven Spielberg remains a favorite for several generations of children and adults.
Both actresses have remembered how was the filming of the tape in which an alien arrives on Earth and strikes up a friendship with a group of children. Of this film there is scenes that are film history, as in the denouement in which little Elliot covers ET with a red sweatshirt and puts him up in the basket of his bicycle; when the alien tries to contact his home or when little Gertie tries to disguise him with a wig, hat, necklace and all kinds of accessories. However, there are also details that we did not know and that the actresses decide to reveal during the conversation.

Barrymore thought ET was real
In it ‘The Drew Barrymore Show’, the actress and presenter herself shared an emotional talk with Dee Wallace. “Oh my god. Please welcome my mom to ET, Dee Wallace,” introduced her to Barrymore, who was just 7 years old when the film was shot.
Together they began to remember anecdotes from behind the scenes. During filming, Drew Barrymore I thought the alien puppet was alive. “Spielberg had two people monitoring ET, so if you ever talked to him, his eyes would go up and his head would go up and he could even talk back to you,” Wallace confessed.
The moving death of ET
One of the moments that concerned Dee Wallace the most during filming was saying goodbye to the alien. “Do you remember when we shot ET’s death? Do you remember I went to find you to do it? I said ‘Okay, Drew, we’re going to shoot this scene where ET dies,” Dee recalls and adds that she repeated to the little girl: “But you know that in reality he’s not dead, he’s acting like us”.
“Then you looked at me and said: ‘I know, Dee, do you think I’m stupid?‘”, assured the actress while they both laughed. But finally she says that the moment they entered the set and Barrymore saw ET, the little girl began to scream uncontrollably:”He’s dying, Dee!“.
