Daniel Radcliffe on returning to the world of “Harry Potter”: This answer nobody wants to hear

Chris Columbus, who directed “The Philosopher’s Stone” and “The Chamber of Secrets,” and produced “The Prisoner of Azkaban,” confessed last year that he dreams of returning to the Harry Potter universe. The filmmaker has expressed his desire to direct the adaptation of the play “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” by JK Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany, which premiered on July 30, 2016. At the same time, Columbus noted that it would be great if Radcliffe, Watson and Grint, known from all “HP” films, returned to the roles of Harry, Hermione and Ron.

Daniel Radcliffe on “Harry Potter”: I’ll never say “never” but …

The plot of “Cursed Child” takes place 19 years after the events of “The Deathly Hallows”, the final part of “Harry Potter”. We get to know a new generation of kids with magical abilities – the main character is Albus Severus Potter, the youngest son of Harry and Ginny Weasley. Of course, adult versions of well-known and popular characters appear in the script of the play. According to Chris Columbus, it would be a “cinematic delight” to involve Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint in making this story come true for the big screen.

This week, Daniel Radcliffe gave an interview on the premiere of the comedy “Lost City,” in which he starred opposite Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum. When asked how he approached the adaptation of “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” after meeting his old friends on the set, the actor stated:

It’s not the answer anyone wants, but I think I was able to come back and enjoy it as it’s not part of my daily life anymore. I’m getting to the point where I feel like I left “Potter” unscathed and am really happy with where I am now. Going back would be a huge change in my life. I’ll never say “never”, but it took the guys from “Star Wars” about 30 or 40 years to come back.

Until Radcliffe et al. Decide to return to the magical world, fans will continue to enjoy their aforementioned twentieth anniversary of “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone”. The jubilee special program “Harry Potter – 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts” introduces the behind-the-scenes stories related to the production of the production, and, thanks to interviews and conversations between actors specially recorded for this occasion, takes viewers on a journey full of magic and memories of one of the most famous loved movie series of all time.

Apart from the three from Hogwarts, the unique meeting was joined by Helena Bonham Carter, Robbie Coltrane, Ralph Fiennes, Jason Isaacs, Gary Oldman, Imelda Staunton, Tom Felton, James Phelps, Oliver Phelps, Mark Williams, Bonnie Wright, Alfred Enoch, Matthew Lewis, Evanna Lynch and Ian Har.
