This Tuesday Maria Fernanda Man Ging Quintero (33 years old) took the first prize acquisition of the Women’s Hall 2022 ‘Women in a Pandemic’, organized by the House of Culture core of Guayas. His work Prelude (acrylic on canvas) was selected for its “excellent tessitura, color management, space and different techniques developed correctly”.

She says that it is the first time she has participated in the Women’s Hall. In fact, she entered her work without much expectation of winning; That is why when she was told that the opposite had happened, she felt surprise and joy at the same time. “It’s an award that comes in handy because I’m working on a new project (…) so it helps me buy material”Manging mentions.
From its name, the work alludes to the beginning of something. The author of it says that it is between the sublime and the sinister. “It is a work that reflects on isolation and mental disorder, and how the compulsive repetition of a single panorama –although this panorama is familiar– over time becomes deformed and acquires this sinister tint”express.
That is why it contains some symbolic elements that capture that isolation that she recognized in herself, her family, acquaintances and patients. (She is a clinical psychologist). “It is a work to look at for a long time. It is a work that you have to look at several times, not only stay in the contemplation of the clouds or the most beautiful, but realize those other aspects”it states.
She gets these details as a result of a creative process to which she dedicates enough time. “My process is very slow, it begins with an idea with which I connect, it is very emotional (…) and from there I reflect a lot on the subject, once I have reflected on it I begin to sketch, I begin to see how I can express the idea plastically, Explain.

María Fernanda is a clinical psychologist, with a degree in plastic arts and a master’s degree in strategic management. However, it is the art in which she always takes refuge in order to flow in the different occupations of her life. Painting, drawing, writing and music are four of her great passions. “I need to make art, if I don’t make art I don’t feel complete, I don’t feel good”it states.
His first exhibitions were made with his classmates from the Universidad Espíritu Santo. In 2016 she participated in the collective exhibition serendipity, at Municipal Museum of Guayaquil. That same year one of his works was selected for the Machala Hall of the Municipal Center of Art and Culture Luz Victoria Ribera de Mora.
In 2017 he held his exhibition Vermin in the Nahim Isaiah Museum. In 2019 his work was selected for the Open Air Art Festival (FAAL). Last year he participated in the collective exhibition Open, at Kennedy Cabaret.

She is the author of the book Born Eyjarinnar (2020), of which he is currently writing a sequel. She also prepares a book of poetry and rare texts with illustrations made by herself.
Since November, he has been working on a pictorial series that immerses himself in how the sinister is also inserted into the technological.
Her winning work is exhibited throughout March, along with 17 pieces by other artists selected for the Women’s Salon, ‘Women in Pandemic’, at Museum of Plastic Arts Manuel Rendón Seminario, of the House of Culture core of Guayas. From Tuesday to Saturday, from 09:00 to 17:00. (I)
