She heard that she should go to therapy because she wanted to remove the fallopian tubes. “I was frustrated to say the least”

Abby Ramsay is one of the users of TikTok who decided to introduce the observers and observers about her path to finding a doctor who will listen to her and, in accordance with her decision, refer her to sterilization. The 24-year-old made a conscious decision that. It turned out that almost six years passed before she underwent surgery, in which doctors removed both fallopian tubes, thus cutting off the egg’s path from the ovaries to the uterus.

While I have many reasons for not wanting to get pregnant and wanting to be childless, from genetics to medical concerns and doubts, ultimately “I don’t want to have children” is reason enough that should be respected.

– FINALLY HAPPENS. If you know me, you know I chose not to have a baby since I was 16. When I turned 19, I decided to engage in permanent sterilization. On my first visit to the gynecologist, I was told that I needed therapy (I was already in therapy at the time) and there will be no discussion with me about it. Another basically just blamed the hormones for all my problems and sent me away with the birth control pills, even though I told her many times that they made me sick. Another said no one should ever undergo surgery that they absolutely don’t need (even after I mentioned plastic surgery and a history of ovarian cancer in my family that surgery would also help prevent). Many of these meetings left me frustrated and traumatized to say the least. I was infantilized, not listened to and not taken seriously. I was told that I was too young to make such a lasting decision and then that I should have a baby. Finally, in December, I found a doctor who listened to me and even figured out why I had been in so much pain for years! My surgery is scheduled for February 4 and I cannot describe the relief, excitement and nerves I feel. I know my body and I know what is good for me and I want to thank my doctors for noticing this and for working on my needs. We need more such doctors – she wrote on Instagram.

The video she shared on Instagram and TikToku touched many people:

The fact that a woman has to fight for her right not to have children is absurd. Not everyone wants to have children and that’s ok

I did my surgery almost a year ago and it was the best decision. Congratulations!

I am a mom and congratulations! Just as I could have chosen to have children, you should be able to choose the other way around
