The Nantes Film Festival will show 15 Basque productions

The Fenêtre Basque (Basque Sale) cycle that takes place every year at the Festival du Cinéma Espagnol de Nantes will offer 15 Basque productions from March 8 to 20: five feature films, nine short films and the ETB series “Hondar ahoak” .

The feature films that will be screened are ‘Maixabel’ (2021); ‘Cosmic song. Niño de Elche’ (2021), by Marc Sempere and Leire Apellaniz; ‘Sacred Spirit’ (2021), debut feature by Chema García Ibarra produced by the Basques Apellaniz & De Sosa; ‘Ilargi guztiak’ (2021), by Igor Legarreta; and ‘Kuartk Valley’ (2021), a documentary about the first Basque western, filmed by Maider Oleaga.

In addition, the San Sebastian director Koldo Almandoz returns to Nantes with the mini-series ‘Hondar ahoak’.

Among the candidates for the best short film we find the works of two Basque filmmakers. ‘Au pair’ (2021), by David Pérez Sañudo, and ‘Heltzear’ (2021) by Mikel Gurrea.

As in previous editions, the Fenêtre Basque will also show the rest of the short films from Kimuak 2021: ‘Azaletik azalera’ (2021), Mel Arranz; ‘Berak baleki’ (2021), Aitor Gametxo; ‘Inner Outer Space’ (2021), Laida Lertxundi; ‘Resonances’ (2021), Iñigo Aranburu; ‘Trumoiak’ (2021), Iker Maguregi; ‘Ur azpian lore’ (2021), Aitor Oñederra eta ‘Zerua blu’ (2021), Lur Olaizola.
