The award-winning Puerto Rican singer and songwriter Kany Garcia once again captivates the public with the vibrant fusion of lyrics and music that characterizes her in her new song “Water and Coconut”a single that will be part of the new album, which, according to EFE, “will show another side of Kany.”
“It has been two years so sad and so complicated that I was not able to write songs of nostalgia, sadness or melancholy; he wanted to break with that darker side and when he grabbed my guitar only happy songs were born. It touches on a wide variety of topics, but always from a corner of happiness”, describes the artist about her new project that will mark a before and after with respect to“Table for two” (2020).
“This album is going to make people very happy,” she adds, “acquires a little more lively music, which is a great challenge for me, since almost everyone thinks that being Puerto Rican I should be making urban music . I want to bring positivism, bring things that are worth talking about, ”she insists.
García (Toa Baja, Puerto Rico, 1982) is one of the most recognized voices in Latin America. She has seven albums on the market, six Latin Grammy Awards, she was the most nominated artist for these awards in 2020 and has collaborated with artists such as Joaquín Sabina, Leiva, Carlos Vives, Camilo, Nach, Residente and Bad Bunny.
The artist, who is in Spain for a few days to promote her new single, announces that her next album is already 80% complete, that she only has to “finish a couple of songs” and get fully involved in finishing post-production.
His eighth studio work is planned to be released in the first half of this year, “if all goes well, it will be on the market in May.”
As for whether it will have any collaboration, at the moment it can only advance that there will be one with a Dominican singer and that a Spanish artist will sneak in, “there are many things that will happen in relation to Spain with this new album.”
What is certain is that the recently presented themes “DPM” (From Pxta Madre) Y “Water and Coconut” They will be part of it. Of the latter, the most recent, she points out that she “is very happy”, since she is having a “super strong reception from the public” that was not expected, since the style “is not usual” in her.
To the rhythm of a Puerto Rican bomb, “Water and Coconut” tells the story of a person who, even without looking for a formal relationship, ended up finding it through the kisses of a special person: “I take you like agüita ‘e coco, little by little we go crazy”, reads the chorus.
The composition of the song stems from a true story that happened to a friend of hers who was single and after a month found the love of her life, and that “she didn’t want to know anything more about men and wanted to be alone”.
The singer has lived and is living one of the best musical moments, “something you dream of when you start”, however, if you look back and find that 18-year-old Kany who dreamed of being a music star, I would tell him to “go easy, enjoy every moment and not be in a hurry”.
