The Ministry of Sports of Russia responded to a request from journalists after the emergence of information about a problematic doping test in the country’s figure skating team, which competes at the Beijing Olympics. This was reported by the Telegram channel “Match TV”.
The Ministry of Sports noted that they would not comment on the information about the postponement of the awards ceremony for the winners of the team tournament, which was circulated by the media. The department’s response to the TV channel’s request does not mention Kamila Valieva, in whose doping test a prohibited substance was found.
Earlier it was reported that the figure skater who passed the problematic doping test before the Olympics is 15-year-old Valieva. The information was published by the portal Inside The Games. It also became known that the drug can not improve athletic performance. We are talking about trimetazidine, which is used in the prevention of angina attacks. In addition, Valieva passed a positive test before the competition – in December.
The awards ceremony for the winners of the team figure skating tournament was postponed amid information about a problematic doping test. The Russians won gold in this discipline. During the tournament, the athlete became the first woman to succeed in a quadruple jump at the Olympics.
