The party in question would have been celebrated in december 2020, while the country was preparing for a Christmas with harsh restrictions due to the coronavirus. At that time, the restrictions in force prohibited any social gathering between people from different living units.
The image has now been published by the British newspaper ‘DailyMirror‘: Specifically, according to the aforementioned media, the snapshot was taken at the prime minister’s official residence on December 15, 2020. In it, Johnson appears accompanied by three members of your team, apparently without a mask or distance from each other. In front of them, on the table, in addition to the bottle, is what looks like an open packet of potato chips.
The British ‘premier’ has been asked about it in Parliamentwhere Labor MP Fabien Hamilton has pointed out that the photograph “looks a lot like one of those Christmas parties you told us never happened”, to which Johnson has replied that he is “completely wrong”.
The event to which the image corresponds does not appear, apparently, in the dossier of social events convened in government offices and in Johnson’s own official office during the confinements of the last two years investigated by the London Metropolitan Police.
The scandal known as ‘partygate‘, unleashed after it became known that British officials organized numerous social gatherings while the rest of the citizenry was forced to follow harsh restrictions, has deeply damaged the reputation of Johnson, who, however, in principle has no plans to resign.
