For the first time since its creation, the most famous mouse in the universe will wear pants.
The famous Disney character, Minnie Mouse, who since her first appearance has worn a skirt or dress, leaves behind this garment to wear a suit, jacket and pants.
On this occasion, Minnie will wear a stylish blue tuxedo with gray polka dots and stripes, and ties on the pockets. A pantsuit designed by the British Stella McCartney to celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of Disneyland Paris, the theme park of the Disney universe in the French capital and the month of women.
“Minnie has always held a special place in my heart,” McCartney said in a statement. “We share the same values, and what I love about Minnie is that she embodies happiness, self-expression, authenticity… plus she has great style.”
For now, this will only be a forward as the costume will be worn by the character next March, for International Women’s Day and the 30th anniversary of Disneyland Paris.
“This new version of her characteristic polka dots makes Minnie Mouse a symbol of progress for a new generation,” said the British.
Minnie’s costume has caused controversy among fans of the character and the general public, as positive and negative comments have been seen, including on the Fox network, presenter Jesse Watters and commentator Candace Owens.
“They’re making her more masculine,” Owens said on “Jesse Watters Primetime,” adding that Minnie Mouse in pants is an attempt to “destroy the fabric of our society.”
The collaboration with McCartney will also include a limited collection of t-shirts —with Minnie included and the phrase “Divine Feminine”— which will appear on the catwalk of the Stella McCartney Winter 2022 show on March 7 and will be on sale the following day. (AND)
