From Miss Lower Silesia to Ralph Lauren’s favorite

Agnieszka Kotlarska started her modeling career with photo sessions. At the beginning of the 90s, she became Miss of Lower Silesia. On July 19, 1991, she won the Miss Poland title, and on October 13 (of the same year), she was the first Pole to win the Miss International competition. The model was involved in, among others with an agency from New York, which allowed her to move to the USA. Her career suddenly took off. In the years 1992-1996, she collaborated with the most famous fashion designers in the world, such as Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein. She has had photo sessions in various parts of the world for international editions of such magazines as “Cosmopolitan” or “Vogue”. Apparently, she has even gained the reputation of Ralph Lauren’s favorite.

Before participating in the Miss Poland competition, she became involved with Jarosław Świątek (co-organizer of the event). Beloved, together with Agnieszka, he went to New York so that she could develop her career. They also decided to get married there. At some point, however, they decided to return to Poland. They bought a house, and their daughter was born soon after.

Even before Agnieszka Kotlarska gained such huge popularity, she attracted the attention of a man. Jerzy L. was over 10 years older than her, but since he saw her, he could not forget about her. Overnight she became obsessed with him and he decided to learn as much as possible about her.

It was fall 1991. After that show, I knew where she was going to school. What bus does he go home. She also noticed that some man was watching her, that he was interested in her. We came by bus, I took her home. We talked about ordinary things, who we know, we went to one school in the end. She then entered her cage and that’s it

It happened that Agnieszka saw him under the block or found letters in her mailbox, but she did not think about it. At the time, she considered him harmless, and later moved to the United States. Although the man stopped seeing her after moving out, he never forgot about her.

Miraculously she avoided death in a plane crash

A few weeks before she was stabbed, she was due to fly from New York to Paris, but at her husband’s insistence, she changed her itinerary. It turned out that thanks to this she avoided a catastrophe. Well, a moment after take-off, the plane exploded and all passengers on board died. It was through the information that appeared in the media after the crash that Jerzy L. learned that Agnieszka Kotlarska had returned to Poland.

When I saw a small mention in the press about the catastrophe in which she could have died, those old experiences were revived and I started looking again. It didn’t take James Bond to find anyone, phone book, number and address. Bingo

She was murdered in front of her husband and daughter

Jerzy L. finally found out where Agnieszka lived and on August 27, 1996 he went to her house. When the model, her husband and daughter went out and got into the car, the man approached the car and, tapping on the window, asked her to go out and talk to him. But she had no intention of doing so. The man kept going and became more and more insistent. At one point, Agnieszka’s husband lost his patience and got out of the car, threatening to call the police. Then Jerzy L. attacked him, took out his pocket knife and struck a blow to his thigh. When Agnieszka saw it, she immediately got out of the car and wanted to distract the stalker from her beloved. Then Jerzy L. turned and gave her four blows, which damaged the internal organs of the model – including the heart and lungs.

I turned and stabbed her with the knife. I was dumbfounded, didn’t know what was happening

The wounds turned out to be fatal and Agnieszka Kotlarska died on the way to the hospital. Her husband, Jarosław, survived, but he was close to sharing his wife’s fate. Their little daughter was a witness to this tragic scene. The model’s stalker and killer called the police himself and confessed to everything. He was arrested and the court sentenced him to 14 years’ imprisonment, which was later extended to 15. The man served his sentence and left the facility.

In an article in “Gazeta Wyborcza”, Jarosław Świątek confessed that, fortunately, my daughter did not remember anything from that tragic day. The husband of the murdered Agnieszka Kotlarska currently cares about his and his daughter’s privacy, as he fears that his wife’s stalker might one day track them down. Apparently, he confided to his fellow prisoners that his dream was to finish the work, that is, to kill him and their daughter.
