Maciej Kawulski’s film with Tomasz Wlosok in the lead role is at the top of the list of the most popular non-English-language productions of the website. The advantage over the next title in the ranking is impressive. The list is prepared on the basis of the number of hours that users of the platform spend watching a specific production – “How I fell in love with a gangster” has almost 2.5 times better result than the Italian “Dinner for four” (second place).

How is Polish production doing in individual countries? There is no division into non-English and English-language productions here, all of Netflix’s offer are taken into account. It is true that in the United States and Great Britain “How I fell in love with a gangster” did not make it to the top10, but for example in Ukraine, Bulgaria, Croatia or Belgium it is in fourth place, and in Izarel or Ireland in sixth place.

The film was ranked ninth in Argentina, Nigeria and the Dominican Republic, tenth in Finland, seventh in the Netherlands, fifth in France and Greece, and third in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania and the Bahamas. Apart from Poland, he did the best in Malta and Slovakia – second place.

In Poland, “How to love a gangster” had its premiere on January 5, in other countries a week later. In one of the largest film websites in the world – IMDB – Kawulski’s film currently has a rating of 6/10 (the average rating of the website users). Rotten Tomatoes has so far only included two journalists’ reviews, so there are too few of them to draw conclusions, while viewers give the film 67%. positive reviews.

The production is inspired by the true story of Skotarczak, known as “Nikos” – a Polish gangster from the second half of the 20th century.
