“This theme is inspired by us women…”, says the artist born in Zaruma and also works as a lawyer.
His musical proposal is ambitious. According to the Ecuadorian artist Karla Cueva, 29, is a pioneer in venturing into the popular lane rhythm of Colombia. “There is no other artist who sings this genre here… I was inclined to this genre, because this genre helps me as an artist to convey what I want to say to my audience, what I want to feel…”, he affirms.
Born in Zaruma, province of El Oro, and currently living in Machala, she comes from a family of artists. “Most of my family are artists, my mother is a very good singer, she never rose to fame, she was always anonymous… My mother rehearsed me with her guitar and the first Ecuadorian song that I learned to sing is the corridor avocado, My mom taught it to me, so that’s where music comes into my life, because of my family,” he says.
Cueva promotes his first unreleased song Do not return anymore. “This theme is inspired by us women, why do I say in our female gender, because I have always thought that at any time we need a song to let off steam and maybe dedicate this song,” she explains.
“Sometimes we don’t say things out of fear or because maybe something could happen, but right now we can dedicate a song that is like a cry of struggle for women’s freedom, for self-love…”, she adds.
The musicalization of the theme was in charge of Winston Arce. The lyrics of the song are authored by Cueva, who wrote it in 2020. It was produced this year “with all the live instrumentation of the popular lane rhythm, which is purely Colombian,” he says.
The artist says that in 2021 she traveled to Colombia to make a purely Colombian production in the popular lane rhythm. “I did it hand in hand with Georgy Parra from Salvaje Music, who is one of the greatest musical producers in Latin America, winner of a Grammy, and the lyrics of my upcoming songs that are going to be played are by the Ecuadorian composer Ramany Rovayo, who She was also the winner of a Latin Grammy”, she points out.
“With this production that I recently recorded, we are going to premiere these productions with force this 2022… They are two songs that have the title I swear Y The farce ”, add.
For this 2022 it also plans to carry out two feat with Colombian artists Álex Teherán, son of Patricia Teherán, and Camilo Baena.
Although she will focus on Colombian popular rhythm, she says she is also open to performing in other genres. “If there are other proposals why not do it too, music is a diversity, I always say that it is like a diversity of colors and flavors…”, he assures.
He does not rule out the possibility of a media tour in Barranquilla, Colombia.
In addition to being a singer, she works as a lawyer and works in the Judicial Council of El Oro, where she is a coercive secretary. (E)
