Who was Antoni Pawlicki’s grandmother? Rachwalska has earned her success
She was born on April 13, 1922 as the daughter of a restaurateur Ignacy Rachwalski and Helena née Staszewski. In 1944 she became a graduate of the State Institute of Theater Art. She debuted on stage a year later in Łódź, where she co -created the New Theater. Antoni Pawlicki was only 10 years old when his grandmother left, but he mentions her as “Titana Work”. In an interview in the magazine “Twój Styl” he admitted that he came to such conclusions after he traced her fate.
– Every day she had rehearsals in the theater, and after them went to recordings to the Polish Radio Theater or to the film set. And in the evening she played in the performance. She left before 10, returned after 22. And she dealt with three children. Between recordings, rehearsals, performances she snapped with mesh after shops. In the morning she was preparing children for school, cleaned and cooked dinners. She loved her family, but work was her passion. And she could reconcile it, without giving up nothing – the actor recalled.

Rachwalska performed on the stages of the National Theater and the Ateneum Theater, but the greatest popularity was her roles in the iconic productions: “Stake greater than life”, “Janosik”, “Four Panzer and Dog”, “Nights and Days” or “Alternatives 4” and “Dom”.
– On the fingers of one hand you can count her leading roles, but she was able to appreciate what she had. She was not a frustrated actressshe never aspired to be a star – explained Pawlicki.
Barbara Rachwalska was awarded the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta and the Golden Cross of Merit. She died in 1993. She inspired her grandson to try her hand at acting. – Thanks to the fact that my grandmother was an actress, my home was very good about acting. This undoubtedly influenced the fact that I decided to take to the theater school. And in college I decided to write a master’s thesis about my grandmother – Pawlicki confessed.
