Snape in “Harry Potter” had a different one. Rickman won the change. “Impossible to conceive”

Do you remember the scene of the death of Severus Snape in the last movie in the series about the adventures of Harry Potter? Few know that by creating a screening, the David Yates director had a completely different vision than the author of the novel, JK Rowling. Alan Rickman himself led him away from her. Why?

A series about the adventures of a young wizard and two of his friends have had crowds of loyal fans around the world for over two decades. On the wave of popularity of the novel by JK Rowling, in the coming years, equally successful. These in most cases are consistent with the original, though There are also several threads presented completely differently than we can remember from books. Now it turns out that it could be similar in the case of the last scene with the participation of Alan Rickman, who created the figure of Severus Snape on the screen.

The director of the 2nd part of “Death Insignia” wanted to change the key scene. Rickman intervened

Both in the novels about Harry Potter, and in the basis of them, there are plenty of touching moments. In a moment, which particularly breaks the heart, the cult scene of the death of Severus Snape in the second part of “Insignia of Death” is already escaping. We learn from Alan Rickman’s journals that director David Yates had a completely different vision to her implementation than the one that Rowling presented on the pages of the book. He wanted the wizard to die from the spell “Avada Kedavra” thrown by Voldemort (played), not after biting the Nagini snake.

David is stubborn as always when it comes to killing me with a spell. (Impossible to concept, it will definitely cause readers’ anger)

– he wrote in the notes published under the title “Madly, Deeply: The Alan Rickman Diaries”. He added that from the beginning he did not agree with this idea and tried to push his opinion. How did he manage to convince a filmmaker to him?

Rickman did not want to agree that Snape would die this way. He used such arguments in an interview with the director

I don’t think anyone needs to convince that the moment of Snape’s death is crucial not only for this hero, but also for the whole story. If he died from the spell thrown by the Black Lord, as Yates planned, he would not be able to say goodbye to Harry Potter. This means that he would not give him tears – memories illustrating the most important events of his life, including those from Lily Potter, i.e. the mother of a young wizard.

He used such arguments in many conversations with the director, after which he eventually managed to convince him of his vision. This, as you know, was a good choice.

David is sensitive and endearing when he is excited. This is how this scene works on him. This is a great example of what can happen when a pair of actors takes a scene from the script cards and works with history, space and each other

– summed up the actor in the journal. We invite you to participate in the poll and commenting.
