New thriller number one on Polish Netflix. Reviews: The worst movie I’ve ever seen

The Italian thriller has delighted Polish viewers. “Lost at Night” is conquering Netflix, although the reviews are not encouraging at all.

On July 11, a new Italian thriller, “Lost at Night,” appeared on Netflix. The platform advertises the production as a mysterious and dramatic picture, which clearly encouraged Polish subscribers to watch it. After logging in to the service in our country, we can see that the latest work by Renato De Maria (“Ruthless,” “Hotel Paura”) has overtaken even the latest “Beverly Hills Cop” in the TOP10 most watched films on Netflix.

New number one thriller on Polish Netflix

The thriller tells the story of Elena, a psychiatrist from the US who moved to Italy, to Puglia, for love of Pietro, a man with a turbulent past. They got married and had two children. Their dream was to restore a country house in Masseria and turn it into a hotel. However, nothing came of their plans, and Elena and Pietro separated.

One night, their children, who are on a farm under Pietro’s care, disappear. Their father searches for them everywhere, but eventually has to notify Elena, with whom he is in a custody dispute. Furious, Elena blames and accuses him of everything. Until the phone rings. Their children have been kidnapped. To get them back, the parents must pay 150,000 euros in cash within 36 hours. This is where the action of the film thickens. Elena and Pietro have to work with dangerous people, capable of anything.

The most interesting twist in the film is the moment when Pietro decides to make a deal with an old friend. The man goes on a crazy night cruise, from which he barely escapes with his life. However, when he returns to Bari, everything looks completely different than a few hours earlier. Nothing corresponds to reality anymore. People, and above all Elena, behave absurdly. Pietro thinks he has gone mad.

“Lost at Night” a Hit on Polish Netflix. Reviews Are Poor

On Filmweb, viewers rated the production five stars out of 10. The international statistics on Rotten Tomatoes are worse, where the title received only 20 percent on the audience freshness scale. “This was the worst film I’ve ever seen,” writes one of the commentators. “The acting was devoid of quality, everyone on screen looked like they were being forced to be there,” he adds.

“The premise was good, but the ending was too short. Did everything resolve itself in the last 10 minutes?” – another viewer wonders. “It’s a bit like the writers had to meet deadlines and came up with the ending in three minutes,” he adds. “It annoys me what people are willing to do to have something to pay the rent with,” notes another person who was dissatisfied after the screening. However, there was also a positive voice, awarding the film four out of five stars. The viewer wrote in the review that he appreciated the realistic characters, which were well written and led.
