PLN 3,479 gross – this is currently the average pension in Poland. However, this is only an average. In reality, various amounts are transferred to pensioners’ accounts. Some receive PLN 5,000 gross, while others do not even have half of that. The spread can be gigantic, as Ms. Halina, a native of Warsaw, openly tells us. – This is the fate that Jarosław Kaczyński’s government has prepared for us – says the resentful pensioner.

Pension indexation does not keep up with inflation, and seniors openly say that they cannot cope with the high prices. The prices of food, energy and medicines, which are rising at an alarming rate, have caused basic expenses to absorb their modest household budget. Seniors often face the dilemma of whether to take care of their health or settle current bills.
Our editorial team was contacted by Mrs. Halina, who has been running a single household since her husband died four years ago. The 73-year-old showed how much she receives in pension. She pays rent, bills, phone and buys medicines with it. She admits that “if it weren’t for the children, she wouldn’t have anything to put in the pot,” because the scraps that remain in her account are not enough for food.
I worked in school all my life. I was a janitor and I really liked that job. Although I have no education, I think my pension should be a bit higher. I get 1,779.73 PLN into my account every month. My neighbors who worked in the public sector even get 1,000 PLN more. I ask myself, how am I worse than them?
– says Mrs. Halina.

Pension in 2025. This is how much pensioners will get
Negotiations with trade unions have ended in failure. The government has not agreed to increase pensions and annuities next year by more than the statutory minimum. According to the lelum.pl portal, according to preliminary forecasts, next year’s indexation of pensions and annuities in 2025 is to amount to 106.78 percent, which gives an increase in benefits of only 6.78 percent. This is significantly less than in previous years. The reason is the relatively low inflation, which is forecast at 6.6 percent. How will this translate into the amount of pensions?
- The minimum pension, as well as the survivors’ pension and the pension for total incapacity for work, will be increased by PLN 120.75, which amounts to PLN 1,901.71 gross,
- The social pension will increase to PLN 1,901.71 gross.
- The pension for partial incapacity for work will amount to PLN 1,426.28 gross.
The amount of benefits, such as the care allowance or pre-retirement benefits, will also change. It is worth remembering, however, that these are only preliminary forecasts that may change. Previously, it was said about 7.5% and a minimum benefit of PLN 1,914 gross.
