Two years after the tragic filming of ‘Rust’this July 9th the trial against Alec BaldwinThe 66-year-old American actor is accused of involuntary manslaughter for the shooting that ended the life of Halyna Hutchinsdirector of photography.
On October 21, 2021, during the filming of the movie, Baldwin was holding a Colt 45 revolver, supposedly a ‘prop’, from which a bullet came out that hit Hutchins, killing him. The shot also wounded director Joel Souza in the shoulder.
The incident was reported by the family of the deceased, although the lawsuit was withdrawn a few months later after reaching an agreement with Baldwin. However, the case was reopened in 2023, when prosecutor Mary Carmack-Altwies accused him of two counts of reckless homicide.
The actor was charged with reckless homicide and negligent use of a firearm, although he He maintains that he never pulled the trigger and that the gun fired itself. This has been ruled out by prosecutor Kari Morrissey in a forensic report which determined that the gun could not have discharged itself.
