– It was my great dream to show myself in a film, and not necessarily from a strictly comedy perspective – Jacek Borusiński, a member of Mumio, tells Gazeta.pl. The film “Wróbel”, in which he played a postman, was written with him in mind.

– Once there were these two legs, theatrical and advertising, and now a third one has grown. Well, not now, because I’ve already played in about 20 films… But it was my great dream to show myself in a film, and not necessarily from a strictly comedy perspective. To show a slightly more realistic, even tragic cinema at times, because I’m also drawn to it. And I hope that in this film the viewer will be able to see that – says the actor and author of lyrics for the group Mumio to Marta Korycka from kultura.gazeta.pl about “Wróbel”. “Tomek does not hide the fact that he wrote this script with me in mind”

“Wróbel” also stars, among others: Julia Chętnicka, Krzysztof Stroiński and Piotr Rogucki. Tomasz Gąssowski is responsible for the direction, script and music. For his compositions for Andrzej Jakimowski’s “Imagine”, he received the “MocArta” award from RMF Classic radio for the best film music of 2013. In 2016, he made his debut as a screenwriter and film director with the half-hour film “Baraż”, which won, among others, award for the Best Acting Short Film at the 32nd Warsaw Film Festival. “Wróbel” is his feature-length debut.

Borusiński is also a film multitasker – he directed, played the main role and wrote the script for the film “Hi Way”. Did he let himself be guided by Gąssowski on the set or did he improvise? He responds with an anecdote.

We were rehearsing, we were reading the script, and at some point I said: Tomek, maybe I could improvise this scene. I improvised, then I looked at the script, and I said exactly the text from the script, so it was an incredible pleasure to work with Tomek.

– says Borusiński. – Tomek also does not hide the fact that he wrote this script, maybe not for me, but with me in mind – he adds, mentioning a large community when it comes to sensitivity, certain truth and approach to acting.

What is the movie “The Sparrow” about?

– The previously quiet house, designed for a bachelor’s existence, is becoming too crowded, which leads to numerous tragicomic situations, and for years the topics have been causing the protagonist many emotions and unexpected emotions – says Tomasz Gąssowski, author of the script, music and director, about “The Sparrow”. production. – In the film we will learn, among other things, that it is better not to smile at dogs, not to carry a fake ID card in the same pocket as the real one, and that not everyone is predisposed to removing screws from railway tracks – he reveals and adds:

I have always appreciated films that tell important things in a light and funny way. I would like this film of mine to contain such, even if only a small, truth about man.

As the distributor announces, “it is a bittersweet, funny and unpretentious story about coming of age for changes. The main character is Remek Wróbel – a postman and an avid football player for an amateur team. He is approaching forty, he leads the life of a bachelor. He studies the encyclopedia with passion, practicing his extraordinary memory. Besides There is no one close to his cunning friend Pedro, who conducts shady business. And that’s good for him.

One day, everything changes – his well-ordered life turns upside down, and his new, outspoken neighbor, Marzenka, and his grandfather, whom he has never known before, unexpectedly appear. Remek will have to learn how to make lemonade when life gives you lemons.” The premiere of “The Sparrow” is scheduled for August 23.
