The actors from “Rogue of the Dragon” say which side they support more [WYWIAD]

On June 17, “Roman of the Dragon” returned to Max with its second season. In connection with the premiere of the new episodes, we managed to talk to Luke and Elliott Tittensorn, who play the roles of Ser Arryk and Ser Erryk Cargyll in the series. The actors talked about, among other things, which faction: the green ones led by Aegon and Alicent or the black ones led by Rhaenyra, they would choose if it was up to them to decide. [Uwaga! With the arrival of the second season of “Road of the Dragon”, the moment has come when the family quarrels of the Targaryens, Hightowers and Velarions turned into an open conflict that inevitably leads to bloodshed. The lust for power and regret for the sins of the past are the two main reasons why the greens, led by Alicent and Aegon, start fighting for the iron throne with the blacks, led by Rhaenyra and Daemon. There are no winners or losers in this situation – only those who will suffer less.

Luke and Elliott Tittensor tell us about working on ‘Roman of the Dragon’

Justyna Krakowiak: Your heroes stand on two different sides of the conflict. If it were up to you, which one would you choose? Black or green and why?

Elliott: That’s a brilliant question. I wonder how many of my choices will be consistent with my characters because I’ve invested so much in them. So if I were to speak for myself, it would be black. This was because Erryk believed in the truth of Viserys’ words and what Viserys was aiming for as a ruler. So it would be largely consistent with what he believed to be true at the time.

Luke: I am a supporter of ‘greens’. I have my own website. And do you know why? The point is that Tom Glynn-Carney (editor on Aegon) is from Manchester, and the only true king must be a northerner on that throne.

Justyna Krakowiak: I heard that in the previous season there was a situation when you switched places on the set. Did you wonder how the audience would react to this change or even notice it? Apart from this one, were there any other situations where you switched places but no one knows about it?

Elliott: No, it was just that one time. Of course, when I was sick, Luke had to come and fill in for me, and honestly, there’s something we noticed right away that obviously amuses us a little bit. This is, I think it’s a nice little surprise for the fans to see if they can recognize what scene it was in. So it would be quite interesting if people had to do some digging and find out.

Luke: I have the impression that Greg, the director, mentioned the wrong scene in that interview. So I feel like even if people have been misdirected a little bit, given Greg’s comment, whether it’s the right scene or not, they still have some work to do if they want to try and find that ‘surprise egg’.

Attention! The rest of the interview contains spoilers regarding the plot of the second episode of the second season of “Roman of the Dragon”.

During the interview, the actors also talked about how much they prepared to shoot the final fight scene between the brothers.

How long did you prepare for the last fight and how long did it take to film it?

Luke: Rehearsals could last a total of 30 hours. I think it was about 16 sessions of about 2 hours each, sometimes a little less. Rehearsals took place with a stunt team. To be fair to the stunt team, they were truly classy guys who really knew what they were doing….So once we got on set, every move was just second nature. So we knew it would be like clockwork every time. And then on set it took about 3 days. Probably 2 days where we shot most of the fight and the last day was more emotional as the end of the fight. It was good to shoot it chronologically, just go through it, shoot a third, half of it, and then move on to the next stage.

Elliott: The main reason it was shot this way was to make the scene look more realistic. Because it’s getting bloodier… It helps with makeup and stuff. Thanks to this, everyone could keep track of what was happening.

At the end, Erryk cannot continue living after what happened and commits suicide. If it were the other way around, what do you think would happen? Do you think Arryk would do the same as Erryk, would he kill Rhaenyra?

Luke: I feel like he would probably do the same because of the emotional scar he felt from losing a part of himself. In a way, they admitted that they go together a bit like two intertwined stars. They are, in a sense. They are meant to be together. When one is finally gone, the other will destroy itself. I feel like this relationship was like that.
