for years he has been actively involved not only as an artist and actor, but also as an engaged citizen. He observes political life in Poland, commenting on its course and criticizing what he disagrees with. During the Plejada 2024 Stars gala, he addressed a few words of warning to his environment.
Andrzej Seweryn appealed to artists
Andrzej Seweryn received the “Star fit for time” statuette, which was a surprise for him. The actor said that he is happy with this type of awards because it means that someone – apart from himself – sees his commitment:
I don’t have a sense of the importance of what I do, so I’m glad that it is noticed and makes me realize what kind of society and world I live in, he said.
In line with the rule of this type of speeches, he thanked for the statuette and would not be himself if he did not use the opportunity to appeal to Poles and the government. Andrzej Seweryn has been actively working for political change in recent years – he sharply criticized the PiS government and did not hide his joy when the government changed in October 2023. However, this does not mean that everything is perfect:
A lot has been done in our country, in the world, in matters of coexistence with people who want to go differently, love differently, want to be free. But this is only the beginning. All the more so because what is happening in Europe, I am talking about the last elections to the European Parliament, makes us more anxious – he said, referring to the very good electoral result of conservative and often xenophobic parties.

It’s beautiful and wonderful that we can celebrate our freedom here today. But this is not a given once and for all. I would like to address all artists because I feel I have more right to speak to them than to society. To my colleagues – let’s be vigilant. Nothing is for sure. Let’s make serious choices and be aware that each of our words, concerts, exhibitions, projects, seemingly unrelated to what I’m talking about, are extremely important and take part in the education process and the fight for freedom – Andrzej Seweryn summed up.
