In summer, many insects and spiders enter houses through windows and doors. However, not all of them are welcome. One of them is definitely the green beetle, whose name is not accidental. What does this stink bug look like and how to get rid of the green worm?

It is one of the most common and best-known Polish beetles, and owes its popularity and fame to the unpleasant smell it emits when it feels threatened, e.g. when caught by a human. Is green beetle odor dangerous and how to get rid of it?

What does the green beetle smell like? It resembles a leaf and even changes colors. You will meet him not only in the forest

The green beetle is a tiny bug with a characteristic green color. It is 12-15 mm long, and in autumn its color, like the leaves, changes to reddish or brown. All this to hide among the trees as best as possible. The way odors communicate with each other is also interesting. For this purpose, e.g. during the mating season, it uses its legs to vibrate the leaves. These are received by receptors also located in the legs. “Leaf chats” can take place between a female and a male, but also between competing individuals.

It can be found in forests, on their edges, but also in meadows, although they do not avoid gardens and cities. The odor feeds on fruit, it can most often be noticed, for example, on raspberries, wild strawberries, blueberries, but also cherries and mountain ash. It sucks the juice out of them, and the fruit it was feeding on becomes inedible, mainly due to its very unpleasant taste. Odor flies can wreak real havoc on fruit trees and shrubs.
