Debate on TVP. Beata Szydło clashed with the host. “I’m here out of respect for the voters”

On Wednesday, the pre-election debate was broadcast on TVP1 and TVP Info. Although the candidates were supposed to answer questions about the European Parliament, more than once the discussion veered into other directions. Although the hosts were not to interfere with politicians’ statements, Dorota Wysocka-Schnepf could not leave without comment the words of Beata Szydło, who stated that the “devastation of public media” was ongoing. A fierce discussion ensued between the ladies.

Due to the upcoming elections to the European Parliament, Telewizja Polska organized a pre-election debate, which was broadcast live on Wednesday, June 5. Answers were provided by representatives of seven committees represented by: Borys Budka (KO), Michał Kobosko (Trzecia Droga), Joanna Scheuring-Wielgus (Left Wing), Beata Szydło (PiS), Konrad Berkowicz (Confederation), Marek Woch (Non-Party Local Government People-Normalna Polska) in Normal Europe) and Stanisław Żółtek (Polexit).

The European Parliament elections are just around the corner. TVP organized a debate at which Beata Szydło appeared out of “respect”

The presenters were Justyna Dobrosz-Oracz and Dorota Wysocka-Schnepf, who announced at the very beginning that the election headquarters did not want the presenters to be able to react to answers as in a normal conversation, i.e. ask questions or correct them. However, this did not mean that there was no moment during the debate when the presenter had to react.

This is what happened during the argument between Borys Budka and Beata Szydło, when the former prime minister accused Tusk’s cabinet of “devastation of public media.” Dorota Wysocka-Schnepf then reacted strongly to this statement:

Currently, public media are being rebuilt from the ashes left behind by Jacek Kurski and we must take note of this, said the journalist.

Justyna Dobrosz-Oracz also reacted to Szydło’s words. The former prime minister was retorted

The Law and Justice politician did not leave these words unanswered, referring to the rules applicable in the debate. – I don’t think we agreed on this, please treat us the same – she argued. – It was a comment directed at us and we will not allow it. Public media are being rebuilt, the host replied.

Beata Szydło replied to the editor when she had time to ask Borys Budka a question. – I am here out of respect for the country and the voters. I will ignore this comment by the editor, I think it was inappropriate, just between us, said the PiS representative.

– Now the rules apply to everyone, such times have come – replied Justyna Dobrosz-Oracz when Beata Szydło could no longer retort to her political opponents due to the rules of the debate.
