The Bilbao LGTBIQ+ film and performing arts festival, Zinegoak, has announced today that the Zinegoak Honorary Award will go to the Argentine director, screenwriter, producer, teacher and writer Clarisa Navas, who develops “a cinema with a class and gender perspective, for passion and conviction”, according to the festival organization.
Navas’ two feature-length fiction films, “Hoy parte a las 3” and “Las mil y una”, are “a hymn to women, human relationships, diversity and the struggle to develop the experiences that remain on the margins.” of established patterns and conventions”, in the words of the director of Zinegoak, Alaitz Arenzana.
Clarisa Navas has been thrilled with the recognition granted by Zinegoak: “I am very grateful that they have thought of me. It has been such a difficult time in Argentina and such a bleak outlook for everything we do, that this invitation feels like a hug in a time where the only thing we receive in our country are attacks.”
The Argentine director will receive the award on June 24, during the festival’s opening gala at the Arriaga theater.
Zinegoak will present its full program on June 11.
