Marcin Daniec mixed up the names, the musician from Oddzia Zamkniety demands an apology. Why was he so angry?

Marcin Daniec made a serious mistake as a host of a concert during the festival in Opole. Now Krzysztof Wa³ecki from the Closed Branch demands an apology from the satirist. His words are certainly influenced by the situation in which there are two bands that want to use the name Oddzia³ Zamkniety.

Krzysztof Wałecki, together with Wojciech Pogorzelski, was to receive the Super One statuette from Daniec on the Opole stage. However, the presenter confused the name of the musician, who joined the band in 1995, with the name of Krzysztof Jaryczewski, the first vocalist of Odół Zamkowany, who currently plays with Jary Oddzial Zamkowany.

Marcin Daniec mixed up the names in Opole. “My name is Krzysztof Wałecki and you must respect me”

“Yesterday I sang with Branch Closed at the festival in Opole. The whole concert was generally nice, only well-known and good bands. Unfortunately, something hurt me,” writes Wałecki in a statement. He then describes the situation:

Everything was agreed during the rehearsal… who gives, who takes, etc. Unfortunately, Mr. Marcin Daniec (original spelling – ed.) appeared with the statuette and shouted at me, using the name Jaryczewski several times. I don’t know why he did it, but I stepped back and pointed at Wojtek, loudly informing Mr. Daniec who was to collect the statuette. As a result, this happened.

The musician admits that he still doesn’t know what actually happened. “Was it supposed to be a joke? Or some fatal mistake?” – he asks and adds: “Anyway, I don’t like disrespect for anyone, including myself. Daniec, as a presenter, should know my name and if he didn’t, he should immediately address Wojtek Pogorzelski, not me. It happened differently “He took off, putting me in a difficult situation that I didn’t expect. It all happened in front of the public and spectators all over Poland.”

Wałecki emphasizes that there was no apology or other reaction. “And I have a feeling of poor taste and total amateurism in the performance of what is, after all, a professional. Honestly, I’m fed up with the lack of respect from any side… whether from some uninformed announcer or the directors of the entire show,” he wrote. Finally, he turned directly to Marcin Daniec:

So learn forever, ‘professional’, that my name is Krzysztof Wałecki and you must respect me.

Who is Krzysztof Jaryczewski and what is the Closed Ward scandal about?

In 1979, Krzysztof Jaryczewski, together with the drummer of the Tani Hotel band, Jarosław Szlagowski, Wojciech Łuczaj-Pogorzelski, and Paweł Mścisławski, created the first line-up of the Closed Branch. The group’s most famous songs include: “Ten Your World”, “Party”, “Awake” and “Andzia i ja”. The name was supposed to come from the type of ward in the psychiatric hospital to which Jaryczewski was sent to avoid compulsory military service.

Jaryczewski recorded two albums with her, but in 1985 he left due to an illness caused by the abuse of various substances, he lost his voice for several years. Later he played and sang in several groups, and in 1999 he appeared as a guest at the 20th anniversary of the Closed Branch. Since 2013, he has been the vocalist of the band Jary Branch Zamkowany, which first operated as Jaryczewski OZ and Jary OZ. The first line-up also included other former musicians of the Closed Branch: Zbigniew Bieniak and Krzysztof Zawadka.

When in 2016, Jaryczewski submitted an application to the Patent Office to reserve the names of Branch Closed and Jary Branch Closed, he emphasized that he saw no chance for the two teams to come together, and in his opinion he was the one playing in the “continuation of the first Branch Closed”. – Now I don’t drink alcohol, I want to take responsibility for my life. That’s why there’s a case pending before the court to recognize the rights to the Branch Closed trademark and the authorship of my hits. I mean the composition rights that we then transferred to Wojtek – Konrad Wojciechowski. It was then that Jaryczewski’s legal dispute with Wojciech Łuczaj-Pogorzelski over the rights to the band’s name and some songs began.

Guitarist Łuczaj-Pogorzelski is the only person who has been continuously playing in the Closed Branch since 1979. After numerous changes as the vocalist, Krzysztof Wałecki has been the permanent vocalist since 2016 (once again, he was previously a member of the band in the years 1995-2000).
