since childhood, she dreamed of acting, but after completing compulsory education, at her father’s insistence, she went to study French studies at the University of Warsaw. Although she was capable and successfully passed her exams, she did not feel fulfilled. Finally, she put everything on one card and in 1936 she abandoned her chosen field, at the same time obtaining the dream index of the State Institute of Theater Art.

However, it is no secret that the studies were not very kind to her. She dreamed of playing romantic women, but professors noticed her comedic potential from the very beginning and tried, not very pedagogically, to direct her in that direction. – Get that crocodile off the stage or I’ll die laughing! – say Aleksander Zelwerowicz during one of her performances. It was then that Jerzy Duszyński, who was 2 years younger than me, appeared on her path. She confided in him about her failures, and he confided in him about his love dilemmas with his then fiancée. – I was his confidant. However, I thought about his words and I realized that I was in love with him, but I didn’t let on how I felt – she said in “Świat Kobiet”. Initially, the actor had only sympathy for her, but he often said, apparently as a joke, that if he ever walked down the aisle, it would only be with Bielicka. Back then, he had no idea that such a moment would really come soon.

In 1939, they both graduated from college and, together with Irena Brzezińska, joined the cast of the Teatr na Pohulance. They left for Vilnius, where they were to spend the next months, and only two days later the war broke out. However, they had accommodation provided on site and believed that everything would go as they planned. It so happened that there were only two rooms in the apartment they were assigned, so Szaflarska suggested that Bielicka live with Duszyński, which initially met with her great indignation. – I said “with a man in the room, and in the same bed? Are you guys crazy?! Without getting married!” And they thought that we had been lovers for a long time – laughing. It is true, however, that it was then that they became closer to each other, and on July 1, 1940, they swore love and fidelity to each other in front of the altar.

At the beginning of 1945, they returned to Poland and focused on developing their careers. At that time, Duszyński already had the status of a cinema lover thanks to his roles in such productions as “Forbidden Songs” and “Treasure”. Bielicka, on the other hand, was just starting to take her first steps on the stage, but she was still very popular and many predicted her success. Their numerous professional responsibilities meant that they had less and less time for each other, and eventually their marriage began to exist only on paper. – We stayed in this failed relationship for so long, maybe out of convenience, maybe out of habit. And so this friendly marriage continued, unnecessarily and too long, until it became a fiction, she said later.

At that time, the actor sought comfort in the arms of other women, which he did not even try to hide. – He was not . When he drank, he liked to go out with women – admitted Bielicka in “Angora”. She turned a blind eye to it until he told her he was. She then filed for divorce, which was finalized in 1952. Although she initially resented him, she later convinced him that he had done the right thing because he would not have gotten what he deserved from her. – I existed only from the waist up, and downwards were forbidden areas – she claimed. She hoped that they would be able to rebuild their relationship, but in vain, because Duszyński had already married Helena Urbaniak, with whom he had a son.
