After the first season of “” met with (to put it mildly), the undeterred corporation produced subsequent episodes anyway. How did it turn out? For now, it’s like the saying about a very large cloud.

The first season of “The Rings of Power”, a series loosely based on the threads known from JRR Tolkien’s “The Lord of the Rings”, was not an extraordinary success. Although the production was enriched with film special effects and invested in the most beautiful costumes and scenography, the series turned out to be a shell in terms of the motivation of the characters and the sense of the plot. No wonder – Amazon Prime Video did not buy the rights to all of Tolkien’s prose, but only to a small part of the story. Tolkien’s skeleton was covered with scenes copied from Peter Jackson’s film trilogy, Tolkien’s invented names were used, and the rest was completely made up. Even before the premiere of the first part of the series, it was known that this was not a sprint, but the beginning of a marathon, because. And here comes the second one.
This summer, a few days before the start of the school year, on August 29, the second season of “Rings of Power” will be released on the Amazon Prime Video platform. The trailer is exactly the same as presented for the first season: a visual masterpiece, explosions, Moria, even the Eagles will be there.
What about the plot? We pick up the story where it left off at the end of the first season. Sauron takes over Mordor and begins to plot. The plot boils down, judging by the trailer for the series, to the fact that Charlie Vickers, who plays him, will get a wig and pointy ears, thanks to which no one will recognize him in places where he should be recognized. Compatibility with Tolkien would require Sauron to change characters, and even for a moment, looking at the leaks from the set, everything indicated that this would happen – for example, Gavi Singh Chera, an actor of Indian origin, was cast to play the role of Sauron. The leaks turned out to be false, and the actor was not included in the production. The trailer shows that Sauron will still be Charlie Vickers, only with a wig.

Sauron is about to actively begin to influence politics throughout Middle-earth. Thanks to him, the titular “rings of power” will be created – seven for dwarves, nine for humans. These rings were featured in the trailer and can be expected to play a bigger role. Galadriel will invariably try to track down Sauron. She will now be accompanied more actively by Elrond.
However, all these predictions may turn out to be worthless, because the first trailers for the first season also announced extraordinary things that later turned out to be not necessarily stunning on the screen. How it will turn out this time – history knows cases when the first season of a series was average, and the level of subsequent seasons increased. We will check if this will be the case this time.
