To apply, we must appear in person at any passport point and submit an application. You must take your ID card, a color photo taken according to the guidelines and pay the fee. Usually, you have to wait about a month to collect your passport, so if you plan to travel to other parts of the world, be sure to submit the documents in advance. If you are not entitled to a discount, the cost you need to prepare for is PLN 140. However, there are people who are entitled to a discount on obtaining a passport. Check if you can apply for it.
How much does it cost to get a passport? There are a few situations when you won’t pay a penny
The passport is valid for 10 years for an adult and 5 years for a child up to 12 years of age. from the date of issue, so we tend to replace it at least once in our lives. Persons who meet the following requirements may apply for exemption from the passport fee:
- seniors who are over 70 years old on the date of submission,
- people who want to replace their passport due to incorrect personalization or technical defect confirmed by the authority issuing passports,
- persons referred to in , who need to undergo surgery or long-term treatment abroad,
- persons who submitted an application for the issuance of a document before the expiry of the current passport, in connection with the removal of inconsistencies of surname, first name, date of birth, place of birth, citizenship, gender and PESEL number, pursuant to Art. 11 of the Act of 24 September 2010 on population registration,
- soldiers who have been assigned to serve outside the country (the exception are professional soldiers),
- persons who have a final court decision invalidating the decision of the passport authority to refuse to issue or invalidate a passport document.
How much does it cost to get a passport? Not only a discount for children for obtaining a document
For children up to 12 years of age, the cost of the passport is PLN 30. However, they are not the only ones who can benefit from the discount. Who can count on passport relief and how much will they pay for the document? These include, for example, holders of the Large Family Card. For these people, the price varies depending on who the passport is being issued for:
- children up to 13 years of age -15 PLN,
- children and young people from 13 to 18 years of age and young people studying or studying from 18 to 25 – PLN 35,
- children over 13 years of age with documented moderate or significant disability – PLN 35,
- parents of children – PLN 70

The passport, priced at PLN 70, can be obtained by retirees, pensioners, disabled people and their spouses who are their sole dependents. And moreover:
- people on social pension,
- people staying in social welfare homes, care facilities or receiving permanent benefits,
- veterans and other persons to whom the provisions of the Act of January 24, 1991 on veterans and certain persons who are victims of war and post-war repression apply,
- persons with the status of an anti-communist opposition activist or repressed for political reasons,
- soldiers and veterans injured within the meaning of Art. 3 of the Act of August 19, 2011 on veterans of operations abroad
- firefighters, rescuers of the volunteer fire brigade and people who have been granted rescue benefits,
- volunteer mountain rescuers.
