Ancelotti has not yet named Real Madrid’s goalkeeper for the Champions League final

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti revealed that he still doesn’t know who will be the Spanish team’s starting goalkeeper in the Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund.

“I will choose the goalkeeper for the final a week before. I think like everyone else. Lunin had a fantastic season and helped us a lot. Courtois is the best goalkeeper in the world if he is at his level. He didn’t play nine months and he’s back. We also want to give Kepa the opportunity to play, but it is not easy,” he said.

Real Madrid’s main goalkeeper is Thibaut Courtois. However, the Belgian player was injured before the start of the season and was out of action for nine months. The 32-year-old only returned to play against Cádiz, on May 4th.

To replace Courtois, the board hired Kepa Arrizabalaga, ex-Chelsea. The Spaniard, however, did not live up to expectations and went to the bench. Thus, Ukrainian Andriy Lunin took over the starting line-up and had decisive performances in the Champions League and the Spanish Championship.

Now, Courtois is back and can gain minutes this Tuesday, against Alavés, in the 36th round of La Liga, to try to get his best form for the Champions League final.

The decision against Borussia Dortmund is scheduled for June 1st, at 4 pm (Brasília time), at Wembley.
