With the month of May comes Eurovision. On May 11, the Eurovision Song Contest, a competition in which different European countries (and let’s say also, from outside Europe) show their musical skills and compete to become the best. Since 1956, the festival has been held without interruption except a few years ago, when the contest had to be canceled due to the global Covid pandemic. But until Saturday, there is still the odd helping of a music festival.

The semi-finals work in the following way: a certain number of countries participate in each of them, but only 10 from each semi-final advance to the grand final, in which between 25 and 26 countries participate. The second semi-final was introduced to avoid voting between blocs: in this way, Greece, for example, is prevented from voting for Cyprus; or that the United Kingdom supports Ireland.
