Scale accumulating inside can damage the mechanism, and mold and bacteria often accumulate there. How to clean it? Drain the water, turn off the valve and pour hot (but not boiling!) water into it to the height of about 2/3. Wait a while until it cools down, then add up to 300 ml (or a dishwasher tablet) and leave for at least an hour. The greater the contamination, the more time you will need.
