and since mid-December he has been clearly opposed to the changes in public media carried out by the Minister of Culture. Its members, led by Maciej Świrski, protest against any bankruptcy, express concern and do not accept the changes in the management board that have taken place in recent months. This week, the Council published a 13-page report on materials presented in “19.30” – the main TVP news program, which replaced the earlier propaganda “Wiadomości”. According to the National Broadcasting Council, this is not good.
KRRiT criticizes “19.30”
The report covers the last three and a half months of “19.30” broadcasting. The program was supposed to be an antidote to the extremely politicized and one-sided materials presented in “Wiadomości”. According to the National Broadcasting Council, which analyzed “19.30” and checked what content appeared, in what intensity and with what tone, it is not “clean water” at all. The focus was on the most important news in recent months: changes in the public media, the detention of former PiS MPs Mariusz Kamiński and Maciej Wójcik, and the transfer of EU funds for armaments.
The National Broadcasting Council compares the presentation of various key information point by point in the report. It was described how and when the material was shown by “Fakty” TVN and “Wydarzenia” Polsat, competing with “19.30”. For some reason, it was decided that “Dzisiaj” TV Republika, which was created as “Wiadomości-bis”, was equally competitive. The evidence to the detriment of TVP included, among others: following omissions ()
- Lack of statements and statements of entities and experts who criticized the changes in the public media (e.g. constitutionalists, the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights, the National Broadcasting Council itself and its Chairman and others)
- The fact that public media were put into liquidation by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage was omitted, although other websites widely reported on the liquidation of public media.
- “19.30” was accused of lack of information about a strange coincidence during the detention of Mariusz Kamiński and Maciej Wąsik in the Presidential Palace – it was found that other television stations talked about a bus breakdown, thanks to which the detention took place in the absence of the president in the Palace – even if these materials they had a very ironic tone, as on TVN. The lack of a position of the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland regarding the detention of convicts was also noticed
- There is no material about the statement of Radosław Sikorski, who explained the lies of the Russian ambassador to the UN during the UN Security Council meeting
Attention was also drawn to numerous technical failures and simple typos, which are abundant in other television stations. They blamed the “Papuła New Guinea”, errors in the visualization of poll results, a slip of the tongue by a reporter…
Importantly, similar reports were not created during the times of “Wiadomości”. There are also no reports about “Facts”, “Events” or… “Today”. Will KRRiT analyze the releases of other television stations with equal attention? , prove its decline?
