Putin’s aide spoke about the possible participation of Russians in the 2024 Games in Paris

Igor Levitin said that every athlete has the right to participate in the Olympics

Assistant to the President of Russia Igor Levitin spoke about the possible participation of Russian athletes in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. His words are quoted by TASS.

In his opinion, athletes, not countries, perform at the Games. “The position here is that this is the right of every athlete, and if an athlete decides to go to the Olympic Games, he goes there as a neutral athlete,” said Vladimir Putin’s assistant.

He added that Russians wishing to compete at the Games should not sign any documents that “discriminate against the work that the guys are doing there, on the front line.”

Russians and Belarusians will be able to take part in the 2024 Olympics as individual neutral athletes by decision of the International Olympic Committee. However, athletes who support a special operation in Ukraine, as well as those who have connections with the armed forces or security agencies of Russia and Belarus, will miss the tournament. In addition, there will be no representatives of team sports from the two countries in Paris.
