is undergoing a difficult process of metamorphosis from a propaganda platform that divides Poles into a more objective national medium. It’s not easy – after eight years of PiS rule, TVP has completely lost credibility. Discouraged by the government’s demeaning message, viewers fled to other stations and streaming platforms. However, Polish Television is trying to rebuild its tarnished image. A large, nationwide recruitment was to help with this.
TVP publishes the results of nationwide recruitment
In mid-March, Telewizja Polska announced that it was starting a month-long recruitment process for various positions. The campaign under the slogan “Get involved! Let’s change together” was intended to break the spell that has been hanging over TVP in recent years and convince viewers that the December changes are not only about replacing staff with “our own”, but a deeper project.
The recruitment is to select new faces in various editorial offices – news, sports, entertainment, culture and weather. TVP reported that 1,913 people from all over Poland sent applications:
1,913 people from all over Poland applied for the position of journalist/presenter – most applications came from the Masovian Voivodeship. Several dozen applications were sent from abroad. Two categories enjoyed the greatest interest – entertainment and culture – reported the TVP Information Center.
The candidates had to prepare a two-minute recording in which they presented themselves. Now they are waiting for the next stages of recruitment. The jury “composed of experts, long-time journalists and experienced editors of Telewizja Polskie, as well as representatives of the Human Capital Management Office” will select only 50 candidates who will be able to take part in screen tests. We will meet the people who successfully pass this sieve and finally sign contracts with TVP at the beginning of next month – on May 4 in the “Pytanie na breakfast” program.
