No nightmares and no light at the end of the tunnel. This dream most often repeats itself before death

No nightmares and no light at the end of the tunnel. This dream most often repeats itself before death

Does our subconscious know that death is inevitably approaching? Taking into account the latest research, this is quite possible. It turns out that at the end of life many people have the same dream. It’s not a nightmare at all.

The topic fascinates many people. For scientists, it is still a mystery that they try to solve by talking to people who survived clinical death or were on the verge of life and death. The best example is Dr. Christopher Kerr, a cardiologist and director of Hospice and Palliative Care Center in Buffalo. In 2022, he wrote the book “Death Is But a Dream”, which deals with the topic of dreams.

What dream portends death? Everyone has the same vision

Christopher Kerr examined the dreams of patients at the end of life. He suspected that they might be some kind of prophecy and intended to prepare someone to cross to the other side. In his study, he concluded that in the days or weeks before death, many people experienced very similar dreams and visions. 66 patients underwent tests and all of them dreamed of meeting their deceased family, friends and animals. It also seemed to them that the dead were right next to them.

They saw them, spoke to them and were convinced that their loved ones had come to accompany them in their last moments. An example is 72-year-old Mary, who made movements as if she were holding something in her arms. She called him Danny. After talking to Sister Mary, it turned out that Danny was the patient’s deceased son. So on her deathbed, it seemed to her that she had finally been reunited with her child.

A dream announcing death. One motif repeats in it

The patients’ dreams and visions were very intense and real. Some of them had the impression that they saw God or angels. The theme of preparing for the journey was repeated in all dreams. When someone was saved, he later said that it was a deceased relative who said it was not time to die yet. Christopher Kerr noticed that the closer a patient was to death, the more dead people appeared in his dreams. These weren’t nightmares. They did not cause anxiety or fear. On the contrary, they brought peace and solace. The dead appearing in dreams also assured the dying person that everything would be fine. Opinions about such situations are divided. Some people think it’s metaphysics, others think that our brain knows that we don’t have much time left, so we start remembering our loved ones.
