Marek Czy¿ scores TV Republika. “Scandalous, degrading content [TYLKO U NAS]

Marek Czy¿, in an interview with Kultura.gazeta.pl, was asked about his attitude towards TV Republika. The journalist did not hide the fact that he was critical, but he had more to criticize the National Broadcasting Council.

since mid-December last year he has been running “19.30” – . “19.30” replaced “Wiadomości”, which had become politicized in recent years, and which became the government’s mouthpiece and a place where everyone with views different from the official party line was attacked. It was Marek Czyż who announced the end of “Wiadomości” and “clean water” in “7.30 p.m.”. The journalist was a guest of Kultura.gazeta.pl, where he answered, among others: to the question about .

Marek Czyż harshly about TV Republika

in fact, it will only now be fully implemented. Previously, PiS politicians consistently boycotted invitations to Telewizja Polska, which meant that their voices were not properly represented. Fragments of their press conferences were shown, but PiS did not appear in journalistic programs in which politicians could present their views live. The current opposition believed that the new authorities at TVP and the new journalists at the station were usurpers.

Former TVP employees who, as a result of changes in the public media, found employment in the private TV Republika are consistently of a similar opinion. The station was unlucky at the very beginning of the increase in viewers’ interest. Disgusting words were said on the air, comparing immigrants to garbage, and it was proposed to build camps similar to the German ones from World War II. TV Republika apologized, but the bad taste remained, and some advertisers withdrew from television. Marek Czyż says what the situation looked like from his perspective:

The problem with Republika is that it contained content that was absolutely outrageous, scandalous and degraded the company at many points. The market reacted to it, and the regulator should react, he said.

He also added a few harsh words towards the National Broadcasting Council, which ordered an inspection, but after four months there are no visible results:

The regulator is ideologically completely on the other side. [Regulator] He maintains that nothing bad actually happened there. As long as this remains the case, the market can observe it and draw conclusions from journalistic behavior, because there is no point counting on the regulator. He will take action in other areas, he added.

In the interview, Marek Czyż also mentioned how active the National Broadcasting Council was in the matter of Radio ZET, where he previously worked. The radio has had problems many times – the Council has repeatedly cited violations of Article 18 of the Broadcasting Act. The idea was to counteract the Polish raison d’état and present attitudes and views contrary to morality or social good, which most often concerned materials critical of the previous government.
