I send hugs and condolences to his family and to all the inhabitants of El Cobre in the state of Tachira. A Venezuelan politician and governor of Tachira state also announced Mora’s departure. Freddy Bernal wrote on social media: “Our dear Juan Vicente Perez Mora, today we say goodbye to you with deep sadness and pain (…).” He called the deceased 114-year-old a “humble, hard-working, calm” man and “enthusiastic about family and tradition.” He added that generations of Tachira state residents will remember his “optimism in life” as well as “faith, hope and deep love for our Tachira state.”
