Brawl on TVN24. Monika Olejnik couldn’t stand it: I don’t want you to talk to me like that

In the last edition of the “Kropka nad i” program, Monika Olejnik’s guests were: MP from Poland 2050, Aleksandra Leo, and Waldemar Buda from Law and Justice. The topic of the morning-after pill was discussed on TVN24, and the atmosphere in the studio immediately became tense.

Recently, Andrzej Duda vetoed an amendment to the law that abolished the requirement to have a prescription when purchasing so-called “morning after” pills for people aged 15 and over. The president says that access to emergency contraception may pose a threat to the health of young women.

Therefore, the Ministry of Health made an attempt to implement “plan B” and submitted a draft regulation for consultation, which assumes the availability of the “morning-after” pill for people over 15 years of age after conducting an appropriate interview. In addition, the pharmacist may require a photo ID from the patient in case of doubts regarding age, and the mentioned option of purchasing a pill cannot be used more often than every 30 days.

In “Kropka nad i” the women present in the studio clearly agreed on the issue of emergency contraception. – The current law is absurd – said the Poland 2050 MP. Currently, a 15-year-old girl can start sexual intercourse, but she cannot use the services of a gynecologist without the consent of her guardians. – It’s good that this nonsense was not signed – replied Waldemar Buda.

The PiS politician emphasized that taking morning-after pills poses a risk. Monika Olejnik interrupted him firmly and asked what threat he was talking about. There was no answer. – What will happen if a girl like this takes a few pills? – Buda asks. Monika Olejnik couldn’t hide her anger. – But such a girl can take a few aspirin, you can also buy a Viagra by the kilogram – she noted.

– Can you tell me what this pill is? – once again, Olejnik turned to the PiS MP, who emphasized throughout the conversation that this form of contraception was harmful. – Ask the experts – he said in response. Buda claims that the use of similar drugs by people under 15 years of age should be with the consent of their parents. – Not all parents can be trusted – Olejnik noted.

– A child cannot buy alcohol, but he or she does not have a good relationship with his or her parent, so let him or her buy it. Perfect logic – mocks the PiS MP. Aleksandra Leo, like the host of the program, did not believe the guest’s words. Both women present in the studio tried to make Buda aware of what the “morning after” pill is and how much it costs. – Such a tablet costs about PLN 100 – says MP Leo. Therefore, there is no big risk that 15-year-olds will start taking them “like candy.” The PiS MP also had an answer to this. – A sachet of drugs costs PLN 150, which certainly means that young people do not take them – says Buda ironically.

– Who will be responsible for a child who takes five or seven of these pills? – asks the PiS MP. – Shall I take five aspirins or ten? What are you talking about anyway? – Olejnik asked, outraged. – About that. About children’s safety. Because you dress children’s safety in ideology, Buda commented.

The host of the program couldn’t stand it. – First of all, don’t call me “you.” Please don’t call me “you”, because I don’t want it, said Monika Olejnik. The guests in the studio did not reach an agreement on the matter.
