Put in water and then sprinkle. Every neighbor will envy such white Christmas curtains

Easter is coming soon, and with the arrival of spring, many people start cleaning their homes – washing windows, general cleaning or washing curtains. The latter, especially if they are white, can be quite a challenge. If we do not wash them regularly, after some time we may have a big problem restoring them to their former “glory”. How to refresh white curtains so that the pristine whiteness pleases our eyes again?

Of course, stores offer a wide range of chemical agents for cleaning white fabrics, such as curtains. However, household chemicals often involve high expenses, so why should we overpay? Home methods for washing, cleaning and removing all kinds of dirt from clothes and surfaces have recently become more and more popular. The budget “trick” for white curtains is one of them. Interestingly, the products that are key here are most likely to be found in your kitchen cabinet.

Marzena Gołaszewska shared this home remedy for white curtains on Instagram. The influencer publishes content in the field of interior & lifestyle. She shares various tips on keeping order, cleaning and decorating interiors, as well as tasty recipes. She is the author of several audiobooks on this topic.

White curtains for Easter? Nothing easier. You need 2 products from your kitchen cupboard

This time she revealed how to restore the whiteness of our curtains for the upcoming Easter holidays. She recorded a reel in which she showed and explained everything step by step. We need two: baking soda and white vinegar. First, of course, we remove the curtains from the curtain rods and throw them into a large tub/bathtub, which we fill with lukewarm water.

Sprinkle the fabric generously with baking soda and leave it for about 30 minutes (on some guide websites you can read that in the case of very gray curtains, you can leave them in a solution of water and baking soda for up to an hour). It is worth making sure that the curtains are well immersed in the soda-water solution.

Then simply put the curtains in the washing machine and set the appropriate program. Before we do this, however, Marzena Gołaszewska recommends pouring some vinegar into the washing powder. Baking soda and white vinegar are known for their whitening properties, so they work well for white fabrics and clothes. Moreover, adding a glass of vinegar to the washing machine will also reduce the hardness of the water, which in turn increases the effectiveness of detergents. Additionally, vinegar also allows you to kill bacteria that may have accumulated on the curtains during this time. Baking soda and white vinegar combined give you a good chance of removing stains and will certainly refresh the color. However, it is better not to use them in the case of colored fabrics, because their color may fade.
