Tarasova responded to accusations from an American journalist of criticizing the West

Coach Tarasova, in response to journalist Hersh, said that she does not speak badly about the West

Honored figure skating coach of the USSR Tatyana Tarasova responded to accusations by American journalist Philip Hersh of criticizing the West. Her words are quoted by Sport24.

“I don’t remember saying anything bad about the West. I have never allowed myself to do this and never will. Never! So don’t let him lie!” – said Tarasova. She emphasized that she worked there for many years with various athletes, and American specialists helped her a lot.

Earlier on March 18, Hersh, in an interview with Sports.ru, said that Tarasova often allows herself to say dubious things about the West. “All these conspiracy theories that the West is trying to bite Russian sports harder are simply ridiculous,” he thought.

In the 1990s, Tarasova worked as a coach in the USA for several years. At various times she was a mentor to such American skaters as Sasha Cohen, Johnny Weir and Evan Lysacek. Among the domestic figure skaters, her students were Alexey Yagudin, Irina Rodnina, Alexander Zaitsev and many others.
