In March, request the S/500 bonus: how to collect it and what are the requirements in 2024?

In March 2024, the Ministry of Housing, Construction and Sanitation (MVCS) has available the Housing Leasing Bond for Emergencies (BAE) of S/500, known as ‘Rain Bonus‘, aimed at families affected by the recent rainfall in Peru. This subsidy seeks to provide monthly financial aid to those whose homes have been declared uninhabitable or collapsed, which would allow them to rent a safe place to live.

To obtain this month’s bonus, it is essential to be aware of the requirements established by the relevant authorities. From specific documentation to eligibility criteria, knowing these details is key to ensuring access to the benefit. Below, we tell you everything you need to know to access the subsidy without major setbacks.

What is the Housing Leasing for Emergencies (BAE) bonus?

The BAE is an initiative of the MVCS and the Mivivienda Fund (FMV), which provides financial support of S/500 per month to families affected by natural disasters or human actions that have left their homes in uninhabitable conditions.

This voucher aims to facilitate the rental of a home with basic services for a maximum period of two years, in order to ensure a safe roof for the victims while they recover from adversity.

How to collect the ‘Rain Bonus’?

To access the BAE bonus, local governments must send the records of affected families to the MVCS, which will then be uploaded to the National Information System for Response and Rehabilitation (Sinpad) of the National Civil Defense Institutel (Indeci).

After verifying this data, a ministerial resolution will be issued to summon potential beneficiaries, who will have 10 days to find suitable housing and rent it with the voucher.

BAE Bonus: what are the requirements to be a beneficiary?

To be eligible for the BAE bonus, families must meet two essential requirements: the previously inhabited home must be declared uninhabitable or destroyed and the property to be rented must be located in a safe area.

Potential beneficiaries must submit an application, an affidavit confirming that they do not own another home apart from the one affected, and sign and legalize a rental contract with the owner.

‘Rain Bonus’: what documents must beneficiaries present?

Potential beneficiaries must comply with the following procedure within 30 business days:

  • Submit the application to receive the Emergency Housing Leasing bonus
  • Submit an affidavit confirming that you do not own another home apart from the one affected, and sign and legalize a rental contract with the owner.
  • Alternatively, an affidavit from the parties to the contract, noting the financial hardship, may be provided to legalize the signatures. These documents will be available for download on the website of the Ministry of Housing, Construction and Sanitation.

What is a state bond?

A Government bond is a form of financial assistance provided to certain sections of the population to offer financial support in periods of difficulty. These bonuses, temporarily granted by the State, seek to alleviate the economic burden of people in vulnerable situations.
