A clogged sink is a common and frequent problem in both the kitchen and bathroom. However, it is worth realizing that the drain pipes do not clog by themselves overnight. Food residues in the kitchen and sludge from and in the bathroom accumulate in the drain for a long time. Before the water has completely stopped draining, however, you can easily tell that the critical moment is approaching. Primarily:

  • the water begins to drain slower,
  • the smell from the drain becomes unpleasant,
  • air bubbles appear when water flows,
  • characteristic gurgling can be heard when water enters the pipes.

If you notice such a problem in your home, you don’t have to use caustic and not very environmentally beneficial detergents. A less invasive, cheap and if used regularly, it can also help you save on a plumber.

Unusual use of baking soda. Pour it into the sink and the effect will positively surprise you

Instead of having to deal with heavily clogged drains and clogged pipes, it is much better to take care of them every day and save yourself the nerves or spending money on hydraulic intervention. A simple one will come to the rescue. You will only need boiling water to make such a home cleaner. It is enough to pour a package of baking soda into the drain, and then pour a liter of hot water. After such treatment, the debris remaining in the pipes will be removed.

If, on the other hand, it turns out that the pipes are more clogged, a slightly stronger mixture can be used. For this purpose, pour the soda into the drain with a glass of vinegar and cover the drain with a plug or a plate. During this time, you should not bend over the sink or washbasin, because the vapors will be emitted from the pipe, which may irritate the eyes.
