My grandmother has always given me advice for as long as I can remember. I didn’t always ask for them, but sometimes – in fact – they were useful. Some of them are still in my mind, e.g. to always whiten the soup with sweet cream or if there is a stitch in the tights, to treat it with colorless nail polish. But there were a few moments when grandma outdid herself. I remember one situation exactly. I stopped by to visit her, took some shopping with me, and of course, there was tea and a bun. I sat there for a while, looked at the clock and remembered that I had a doctor’s appointment soon. Well, thank you for the cake, I get up and say I’m going because this doctor. What did grandma say to me:
What kind of panties are you wearing? Because you know, anything other than white is a shame. What will this doctor say when he looks at you!
I don’t think anything can describe the look on my face when I heard it. I said that I wasn’t even going to the gynecologist, and my grandmother replied: “It’s nothing, you never know what you’ll need to see there.” Then, when my grandma knew that they were new to me, she regularly told me about these panties so that I wouldn’t forget and make fun of them. And now I wonder if this is really a norm? Do doctors seriously look at such things or is it some old grandma’s approach? I’ve gone a bit crazy. Karina.
Does the doctor care about the color of your panties?

Indeed, more attention was paid to such issues in the past. Today, the standards of decency have changed somewhat. However, there is no denying it – a doctor is also a human being. If we present ourselves in funny or very short underwear, he may be surprised or even intimidated. It is worth taking this into account when going for a visit.
However, as it turns out, the color of underwear actually matters. Although it is not at all related to the issue of shame or what is appropriate and what is not. The doctor (by assumption) is not interested in our clothes, but rather in the problem with which we come. It’s more about health issues – not only during the visit, but also on a daily basis. In a recent article, we wrote about the fact that the color of panties has a significant impact on this:
How to prepare for a visit to the doctor? Check your hands, remove your makeup
Every visit to any doctor requires preparation. It’s not just about thinking about what problem we are dealing with and what questions are bothering us. Sometimes we should also take previous or previously ordered test results. However, few people know that it is also worth paying attention to our body.
Before visiting the doctor, we should give up certain decorations. The lack of metal jewelry when we go to take an X-ray is obvious. However, even when going to an internist, it is a good idea to give up makeup and painted nails. They can cover up obvious signs that are helpful during diagnosis. We are talking about, for example, dark circles under the eyes, pale skin, discoloration, and blue nails. Especially before visiting a dermatologist or trichologist, it is worth skipping washing your hair – this will help you assess the actual condition of the scalp and strands. In the case of a gynecologist, it is also recommended to refrain from excessive hygiene, which may cover up certain problems, e.g. intimate infections.
