When Marcin Bosak was only 27 years old, he received one of the worst possible diagnoses. The cancer could have left the actor bedridden and breathing through a tube. Years later, he admitted that what saved him from the “darkness” was the information that he would become a father.

Marcin Bosak was born on September 9, 1979 in Łódź. He grew up in his hometown, but after graduating from high school he went to Warsaw to study at the Theater Academy. As a young man, Bosak found fulfillment in both acting and sports. He won the title of Polish junior karate champion several times.

Marcin Bosak made his debut on TV screens in 1995, when he starred in the film “Z Piosenek± na Belweder”. In the following years, he appeared as a guest in popular productions such as “For good and for bad” and “Miodowe lata”. However, he gained real recognition for his role as Kamil Gryc in the series “M jak miłość”. Viewers also know him from the film “Polityka” directed by Patryk Vega, in which he played the character of a bankster inspired by Mateusz Morawiecki, and from the film “Pokot” by Agnieszka Holland, in which he played the role of Father Szelest.

Marcin Bosak did not know about the tumor for years. “I probably had it from birth.”

Marcin Bosak was already successful when he heard a dramatic diagnosis. When he was 27, he learned that he had spinal cord cancer. For such a young man it sounded like a sentence. The words he heard from the doctor did not fill him with optimism. When journalists asked the actor if he had heard that he would end up in a wheelchair, he admitted that it was supposed to be the best possible option for him.

At best, although it will probably be quadriplegia and breathing through an endotracheal tube. So that perspective… It wasn’t an acceptable perspective for me at all. And that’s why I denied the disease for years. Of course, I went for check-ups every few months. Sometimes I found out that the tumor was standing still, sometimes that it was growing. I’ve probably had it since birth, but this type of cancer grows very slowly

– Marcin Bosak confessed in an interview for the portal.

The actor had been looking for help in Poland for over five years. Ultimately, he decided to undergo treatment abroad. He went to Belgium, where he underwent a complicated operation that was supposed to give him a chance for a healthy life. After waking up from a medically induced coma, Bosak began a long process of convalescence and rehabilitation. writes that the actor had to learn to walk again, which was one of the most difficult challenges he faced. It wasn’t easy, but the artist did not lose his determination.

When Marcin Bosak received the diagnosis, he also learned that his then partner Monika Pikuła was pregnant. Family, especially children, became the most important reason for him to fight for his health.

Monika called me that she was pregnant when I was going to Łódź for a consultation. And half an hour later I found out I had a tumor. I think this information saved me from falling into some darkness

– confessed the actor.

Despite his illness, the actor did not quit his job. He played to live as before. However, it was not an easy task. He finally had to face the truth and accept his situation. Opening up to family support turned out to be crucial to overcoming difficulties.

In the program, Bosak talked about the panic attacks that began to affect him after the surgery. He mentioned difficulty breathing, dizziness and fear of losing consciousness. The actor also admitted that there were moments when he “wanted to disappear.” These experiences made him reflect more deeply on his mental state. He then decided that he needed to seek professional help. The actor is rightly not ashamed of it and willingly talks about his journey through various strands of psychotherapy.

He blew bubbles with his first love in the academy corridor. They broke up after 15 years

Marcin Bosak and Monika Pikuła were a couple supported by virtually all of Poland. Their love story began while studying at the Theater Academy. Initially, the actors were not very convinced of each other, but over time they became closer.

We were in different groups and at first I only saw Mona in the corridor. And I didn’t have the best opinion of her at all. I was like, ‘What kind of chick is this?’

– Bosak said in one of the interviews. Later, he changed his mind about his friend and he sought her favor. The actor said that “as a pick-up line, they blew bubbles together in the corridor at the Theater Academy.” It worked. Bosak’s relatives were delighted with his partner.

When we were in our third year of college, we broke up for six months and my parents were the most furious at that time. Even my childhood friend, instead of comforting me, was angry at me for letting this happen

– said Marcin Bosak in a conversation with Izabela Bartosz.

The actors got engaged, but never decided to get married, agreeing that a relationship was more important to them than formalities. Their life together brought them two children, Władysław and Jan. The couple did not share their private life with the media. The information that reached journalists in 2017 was a big shock. It turned out that Bosak and Pikuła had broken up. Fans speculated what could have separated them, suggesting that a third person was on the horizon. After some time, Bosak confirmed that he was in a relationship with actress Maria Dębska, whom he married in 2020. Monika Pikuła focused on raising her sons and decided not to publicly comment on her ex-husband’s decision.

Marcin Bosak and Maria Dębska will divorce in 2022. It was a difficult time for the actress. She admitted that she couldn’t cope without therapy.

I had a moment, I remember, right after the divorce, when I thought to myself: ‘God, why didn’t it work out for me?’ I felt I had lost. Even though I was 31 years old, I thought it was over

– she said in an interview with Magda Mołek in “W moja styl”.

In February 2023, information circulated in the media that Marcin Bosak had a new partner. His chosen one was the model Marika Bednarz, with whom he came to the premiere of the series “Rojst. Millenium”.
