In recent years, reality shows have experienced a renaissance. It can be admitted that this trend was initiated by streaming platforms, whose productions of this type are very popular. Television broadcasters also notice this and have been more willing to offer such titles in recent years.
The first episode of “The Traitors. Traitors”. How is it different from the American edition?
TVN’s spring schedule includes a new dark program “The Traitors. Zdrajcy”, which achieved considerable success abroad. The rules of the reality show are strongly inspired by the game Mafia, in which “loyal” and the titular “traitors” compete for money. Many viewers are satisfied with the way the program looks and say that it reminds them of another show of this type, i.e. “The Agent”.
However, there were also voices of criticism. Mainly from those who had the opportunity to watch the American version of the program in the past. Although both versions are similar, they also have many differences. One of them is the place of action. In the Polish edition, participants compete in the Belgian castle Domaine de Mielmont near Brussels, and the Americans competed in the Scottish castle Ardross.
Another outstanding aspect is the number and selection of participants. The American edition involves 20 participants who are both celebrities known from TV programs and “ordinary people” who have no experience in the media on a daily basis. The American version emphasizes interactions between participants from different worlds.
However, in the Polish version of the reality show, there are slightly more participants, as many as 24. Moreover, they are not generally recognizable people. There are a few influencers among them, but they are not the top names present in the foreign version of the program.

In turn, the Polish creators of the program did not boast about its originality in this aspect. In the first episode, the participants of the domestic version had to complete the same task that appeared in the overseas version. The idea is to set two large wooden puppets on fire within several dozen minutes.
However, there is one thing that Poles decided to do their own way. The idea is to eliminate three participants before the program starts. Such a sudden twist cannot be seen in the American edition. Therefore, it can be said that the Polish creators of the program have so far shown that there will be no so-called reduced tariff.
