Failure on TVP Info. They quoted a fake account. Comments: “New TVP Info, old quality”

TVP Info showed a scandalous entry regarding the death of Tomasz Komenda, whose author was allegedly Przemys³aw Wipler. The comment came from a fake account, which was quickly discovered not only by Internet users, but also by the politician himself.

On Wednesday evening, TVP Info commented on the death of Tomasz Komenda. Bartłomiej Feretycki presented the viewers with comments from politicians and publicists, shared on social media.

TVP Info quoted a statement from a fake account

TVP Info quoted the statement of Roman Giertych and Sylwester Tułajew and showed an entry allegedly authored by Przemysław Wipler, the Confederation’s candidate for the president of Warsaw. “Please allow me not to quote this, and you can just read it for yourself,” said the journalist, and the viewers saw a post from the “X” portal reading: “Poland is barely alive, the command is not” (original spelling). However, the entry was published on the account “ChlopWciazy”, and not on the official profile of the Confederation.

Przemysław Wipler found out about the case and accused Telewizja Polska of lying and threatened a lawsuit. “Hey TVP Info, you took material from an anonymous troll account and attributed his vile statement to me. You are attacking me with lies in a vile way because I am Rafał Trzaskowski’s opponent for the mayor of Warsaw? Where is this new quality? You violated my personal rights and slandered me. I am asking for an immediate apology and correction on air, or we’ll see you in court,” he wrote on the “X” website.

A fragment of the program was also released online and immediately became the target of Internet users. “New TVP Info, old quality”, “They let loose like the last amateurs. It takes too long to come to terms with it” – we read in the comments section under the video.

On the same day, an apology appeared on TVP Info. They were also published online. “We made a mistake today. We apologize to Mr. Przemysław Wipler for providing incorrect information regarding his alleged statement on the ‘X’ portal. We used a fake account, for which we sincerely apologize.”
