Avril Lavigne, Oques Grasses, Calexico, The Tyets and Johnny Marr are some of the artists who will perform at the fourteenth edition of the Cruïlla 2024 Festival, which will take place between July 10 and 13 at the Parc del Fòrum in Barcelona.
In the presentation of the event, the director of Cruïlla, Jordi Herreruela, stated that the current edition “will revolve around three axes: be a reflection of Barcelona, but with an international outlook and maintaining its own identity, not wanting to be the greatest, but the best, and the musical diversity“. The festival returns to Parc del Forum of the Catalan capital and two days will be maintained with reduced hours -Wednesday, from 4 to 11 p.m., and Thursday, from 4 to 1 p.m.-while on Friday and Saturday it will be from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.,” Herreruela detailed.
Who acts?
The opening day, July 10, is aimed at a younger audience and focuses on urban music, so this new edition will feature artists such as the Catalans 31 FAM and Figa Flawas, Rojuu and Madrid. Maria Escarmiento. In the section of artists to be discovered, there is the Murcian Maria Blayawho has collaborated with artists such as Rojuu or Natalia Lacunza, the Galician rapper Sila Lua, with a band made up entirely of women, or the Catalan one, more integrated into electronic pop.
The Argentine representation, a production machine for the urban music scene of recent times, will be in charge of YSY AThunder and Maria Becerra.
On July 11 it will be the turn of dance music and orchestras, and a commitment has been made to rumba, with the presence of Azucarillo Kings, The Plazuela or the indescribable Russian Crab and Albert Pla. There will also be space for Latin orchestras, such as Grupo Niche, Irakere, led by Chucho Valdés and which mixes Cuban music with jazz, and for the Puerto Rican merengue exponent Olga Tañón.
Some of the big names of July 12 are Amaral, The Kooks, Kasabian and Avril Lavigne, icon of punk music from the 90s who returns to Barcelona 20 years later, and, as for indie-pop, it will be artists like Nunatak, Eva Sola, Ganges, Gonzalo Hermida or La Paloma. Other jewels of the day from other musical genres will be Sword Master, Depedro, Rayden, who this year will say goodbye to the stage, Delaporte and Selah Sue.
Finally, on closing day (July 13) it will be time to listen to the Catalan groups The Tyets, Oques Grasses, Ginestà, Al·lèrgiques al Pol·len and Roba Estesa. And, in the international section, the German with roots in Jamaican music Peter Fox, Calexico, Johnny Marr, Aurora, Pet Shop Boys and will close the festival Chk Chk Chk.
The Councilor for Culture and Creative Industries of Barcelona City Council, Xavier Marcé, highlighted the event’s “local perspective, the feminine commitment and that it is a festival with a story, a planning will and rules of the game.” Finally, he has highlighted that Cruïlla, at a time when “festivals are under review and their dialogue on the urban use of public space is present in the city”, is “careful with the environment.”
Ticket prices
The prices to attend the festival vary depending on the number of days: the Weekend Pass (July 12 and 13 to 130 euros), the 3 Day Pass (11, 12 and 13 a.m.) 140 euros) and the 4 Day Pass (150 euros), while one-day tickets for Wednesday and Thursday are 45 euros and those on Friday and Saturday, 76 euros.
