Sebastian Stan, known to Marvel fans as Captain America’s friend Bucky Barnes, recently celebrated the premiere of a new movie with his participation. We are talking about the production “A Different Man”, which debuted during this year’s Berlin International Film Festival.
What is “A Different Man” about?
Aaron Schimberg’s film tells the story of Edward, who suffers from neurofibromatosis. The disease has led to his facial deformation, which makes him excluded and lonely. When he falls in love with his neighbor, he decides to change something in his life. He decides to undergo experimental therapy, and a film is even made about him. When work on the production begins, the man becomes obsessed with the actor playing him.
The premiere of the production was accompanied by a press conference. Stan answered many questions that day, but one in particular upset him. The unpleasant situation was reported by the “Hollywood Reporter”. “What do you think happens after the transformation from beast to this perfect man?” – asked the journalist. The actor did not hide his disgust.
Sebastian Stan outraged by a question about the new film. “I need to point out to you”
“I must draw your attention to the choice of words. I think this film is important, among other things, because we often do not have the appropriate vocabulary to name certain things,” Sebastian Stan emphasized. The actor noticed that English was not his interlocutor’s native language, so he calmly explained that he understood the language barrier, but “‘beast’ is not the right word in this case.”
“Interestingly, this is one of the most important things this film is about. We have our own ideas and expectations, we are not educated enough to understand the specificity of such an experience,” explains the actor. “One of the things I love about this film is that it offers an objective way of perceiving this hero. It allows us to recognize our instinctive impressions and notice that they are not always correct,” he added.
