Softening butter to a creamy consistency is not that difficult and does not have to take much time. However, not every trick gives satisfactory results. It is better to avoid heating dairy products in the microwave. Instagram user @milkandcardamom has a foolproof one that only takes a few minutes.

To make it, you only need a glass.

  1. Place the butter on a plate or bowl.
  2. Then fill the glass with hot water from the sink.
  3. Leave the glass for about five minutes to warm up.
  4. Then pour out the water and place the heated glass on a stick of butter.
  5. Leave for five minutes and you’re done! You have softened butter with a creamy consistency.

There are a few more methods you can use to achieve the perfect consistency. One of them is to cut a stick of butter into smaller pieces. Place the small dairy cubes slightly apart and then leave them on the counter for about 30 minutes. This method will take a little longer, but it will work just as well as the glass trick and requires less commitment.
